*Steve Harvey has some regrets about his big blowup with Mo’Nique last week on his daytime talk show, and he’s speaking exclusively to Obnoxious Media about what he would’ve done differently.
Just to recap, the two longtime friends were chatting about Mo being blackballed from the industry after her ill-fated Netflix boycott, and costly dust-ups with the black triumvirate – Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry and Lee Daniels – for refusing to promote “Precious” without a paycheck attached.
During the Feb. 13 broadcast, things got heated between the two as Mo’Nique’s attempt to defend her integrity against the triumvirate’s demands butted up against Steve’s insistence that one’s integrity should never come before the financial security of one’s family.
“Before the money game is the integrity game, and we’ve lost integrity worrying about the money,” Mo’Nique told Steve. He barked back: “If I crumble, my children crumble. My grandchildren crumble. I cannot, for the sake of my integrity, stand up here and let everybody that’s counting on me crumble so I can make a statement.”
After the episode aired, Mo’Nique came for Steve on social media with two videos that called out his view on putting coin before integrity.
Now, Steve tells Obnoxious Media that he regrets some of his word choices during their conversation, and did not mean to appear as if he was urging Mo to be a sellout.
“When I was referring to integrity, I was talking about the method in which they chose to go about what they were doing,” Steve told us exclusively. “I misspoke, and I have to take responsibility to that.”
