Drug Dealers And Killers Strike Again……Michael Vick’s father has been charged with federal crimes relating to heroin distribution and money laundering, the Virginian-Pilot reported.
Michael Dwayne Boddie, 55, of Hampton, Va., was among 12 people named in a federal indictment in Norfolk, Va.
Seven of the 12 made initial appearances Wednesday in U.S. District Court but Boddie was not one of them.
The alleged conspiracy stretched from 2014 to this year and involved more than 1 kilogram of heroin.
Michael Vick retired from the NFL earlier this year, after 13 seasons in the NFL, six with the Falcons. His career was interrupted while he served a 21-month federal prison sentence for his involvement in a dog-fighting ring.
Another of Boddie’s son, former Virginia Tech quarterback Marcus Vick, was charged with possession of ecstasy in October in Newport News, Va. That charge is still pending.
Michael Vick was honored by the Falcons earlier this month as he officially retired from football.
Falcons owner Arthur Blank said that his family foundation was dedicated to giving second and third chances and had no problems with honoring Vick, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft.
Vick, a three-time Pro Bowl selection with the Falcons, guided the team to the 2005 NFC Championship Game. He electrified the fan base, energized the team and helped fill the Georgia Dome with fans.
