Obnoxious Best Dressed/Worst Dressed……Ahead of the release of her new film Queen of Katwe, Lupita Nyong’o returned home to her native Kenya to dazzle as Vogue‘s October cover-star. Draped in prints by some of the world’s most esteemed fashion houses, the award-winning actress delivers her stunning beauty effortlessly.
Radiant and full of poise (in true Lupita style), the actress talks her new movie, her role in Danai Gurira’s Eclipsed, her upcoming project Americanah, creating opportunities for people of color, fashion and much more. “The fact that it was based on a true story, an uplifting story out of Africa..Oh, my goodness, all my dreams were coming true in that script,” shared the star on her choice to be apart of the film.
Not only did Nyong’o share her opinions in the magazine, some of her close friends and mentors shared what they thought of her as well. “She knows where she comes from and uses that to see the world. She has seen ups and downs through the family’s journey; that gives her a clear-eyed approach to who she plays and what she stands for,” said Mira Nair, the director of Queen of Katwe.
With hopes to someday work with Ava DuVernay and to possibly explore roles including that of Assata Shakur, Lupita Nyong’o is proving that she is using her platform in the best way.
