LeBron James has a three-year, $100 million contract with the NBA champion Cleveland Cavaliers, agent Rich Paul told ESPN.
The salary in the first year of the deal will be $31 million, making James the highest-paid player in the NBA for the first time in his career. The salary for the 2017-18 season will top $33 million, making him the highest-paid player in a single season in league history, topping the $33 million Michael Jordan earned with the Chicago Bulls in the 1997-98 season.
A source told ESPN that James has a player option for the third year.
James posted a photo on Instagram on Friday, with him apparently signing the deal.
Over the past two years, James had accepted one-year contracts from the Cavs with player options. After considering his choices, James opted for a longer deal with the Cavs this summer.
James announced he would sign the new deal on Bleacher Report’s video platform Uninterrupted on Thursday.
“I just want to let y’all know I’m re-signing back with the Cleveland Cavaliers, my hometown team,” James said. “I can’t be more excited than this opportunity once again, man, to defend our crown, defend our title. We all know last year as a magical, inspiring — all the words you can come up with — it was an unbelievable season.
“I just can’t wait to get the group back together — the team, the franchise, more importantly, get everybody together, the fans. Without you guys, without your passion and commitment, we wouldn’t have been able to do what we did this past season. I’m ecstatic. I can’t wait to see my guys. I can’t wait to get back out there in the wine and gold and just get the band back together. Lastly, let’s get J.R. [Smith] done. It’s that time.”
Smith, a Cavs shooting guard last season, is a free agent.
While LeBron was sitting in his lavish mansion signing his $100 million dollars deal. He has a brother by the name of Aaron McClelland Gamble that almost looks like he can be his twin. A sorce extremely close to Aaron James came forward to tell Obnoxious Media about the NBA Champ. He could promise to bring home a championship title, but never invite his half brother to one NBA game. Aaron has to leave everyday of his life being reminded of how much he resembles his big brother that is an NBA star. It seems that LeBron’s father cut out on his mother that resulted in Aaron being born and it has been something that the man that seems to have conquered everything just cannot get over. Perhaps hindsight being 20/20 we should have broke this story during the finals and it might just knocked the man that can be questioned about his defeat of Golden State came without some assistance off the court off his game. During the NBA Finals LeBron wore a number of t-shirts with subliminal messages like “The Undertaker” and added to his insults with his “Ultimate Warrior” at the Cleveland Parade and Rally.
Bottom line LeBron James has a brother that lives in Mansfield, Ohio that works as a struggling church musician. Aaron has never come forward due to his always wanting to leave the door open for a possible relationship with his half brother. Sources close to him say he does not have any desire to seek any monetary assistance or material gain from his brother, but only desires to have a relationship with him.
However, Aaron did attempt to reach out when his mother was dying with cancer. All of his attemps was unsuccessful and his mother did eventually die last year. Again LeBron James, “King James” as he likes to be called turned a deaf ear to the pleas of assistance with the funeral expenses nor did LeBron even attend. Obnoxious Media’s source says they are most certain that LeBron was aware that Aaron’s mother did pass and he needed help to funeralize her, but he did not respond or attend. Friends told Obnoxious Media it is most frustrating and hurtful to see Aaron struggle to raise his son when his uncle has millions.
“You read about all of the things he does in the community and for total strangers, but he does not give a damn about his own brother,” The Source Said.
Perhaps one day LeBron will reach out to his brother and realize that Aaron is not the cause of things not working out between his mother and father. Sometimes no matter how much money and material things you obtain in life it never erases the pain from your childhood. At the very least these guys could have a great relationship and be the actual brothers.
