Follow me on Twitter @WilliamGMcCray and Instagram @SirWilliamGMcCrayIII to keep up on the latest! Atlanta man and adult entertainer was found dead inside a Midtown hotel room on Sept. 4, just days after sharing with friends that he lost his job and was suffering from seizures.
Mehran Chestnut was discovered nude and on the floor of a room in the Hyatt Atlanta Midtown by the man he met online the night before, according to an Atlanta police incident report. After the two connected online on Sept. 3, the man picked Chestnut up from his home and the pair went to the hotel on 10th Street.
“[The man] stated that they both fell asleep around 12:30 a.m. and when he woke up, he tried to wake Mr. Chestnut but he was not responding,” according to the incident report. The man then called 9-1-1.
Chestnut was found about 6:30 a.m. holding a bottle of Black Max poppers, according to the incident report. A cause of death has not been determined pending the results of toxicology results, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner. But police are not treating Chestnut’s death as a homicide.
Chestnut, who identifies as Kb Love on Facebook, suffered from seizures, according to posts from friends and family members. And he shared text messages with a friend in late August disclosing that he suffered from grand mal seizures, which can include a loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions and are often caused by epilepsy.
Warnings for some poppers indicate that a side effect can include grand mal seizures.
Chestnut studied at Atlanta Metropolitan State College and worked on the wait staff of Yard House in Atlantic Station and a P.F. Chang’s restaurant, according to his Facebook page. Chestnut, a native of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, graduated from Alexander High School in Douglasville.
In a text exchange last month, he told a friend that lost his job and didn’t have a place to live.
Chestnut performed as a stripper at Atlanta nightclubs and during parties for gay nightlife promoters, including Rockstars Productions and Wet In ATL. He also appeared in gay porn scenes as King B, according to Str8UpGayPorn, which first reported Chestnut’s death on Wednesday.
Chestnut appeared in scenes for several studios, including Raging Stallion and NextDoorEbony, where he shot a scene with Atlanta-based performer Tyce Jax in 2014.
Ebony World Media, an Atlanta-based adult entertainment company, was among those posting condolences to Chestnut’s Facebook page:
SAD NEWS: Our hearts go out to the friends and family of Kb Love with this tragic news of his passing from this world to the next. In the world of exotic dance and adult entertainment, there are many people with huge egos and attitudes that are often outsized and unwarranted. But KB never once exhibited any of those things. Yes, he was gorgeous to look at, but his soul was — is — kind, easy going and genuine. For projects, he professional and courteous on set and off and a genuine pleasure to work with. We will miss him and our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to all who cared for and loved him. — J. In 2013, Chestnut appeared in an episode of “Tha Life Atlanta,” a web-based reality series about black gay life in Atlanta. In his appearance, Chestnut discussed how becoming a stripper and porn actor helped lift him up from living homeless behind a MARTA station.
“I actually learned how to financially hold my own money, gain my own money, to live on my own, to basically learn the ATL lifestyle, the gay lifestyle in general and how to go from a low self esteem to a high self esteem. So it really taught me a lot,” Chestnut said. (Watch below)
A memorial service for Chestnut is scheduled for Sept. 19 at World Changers Church International in College Park
