Meet Eric Seats, the 41-year-old drummer who’s helped Patti to get her groove back! The DailyMail recently confirmed that Seats, an accomplished drummer, and LaBelle have been dating for several years but she recently started showing him off.
The pair met when he was hired to be her drummer several years ago. While some may consider Eric an opportunist (CC: Kris Jenner and Corey Gamble) because of the 30-year age difference between he and Patti, the drummer is extremely accomplished.
He’s toured with Stevie Wonder, Mary J. Blige, Timbaland and Missy Elliott, in addition to producing songs for Destiny’s Child and Aaliyah “He made her feel at ease and she loved that he had such a vast experience working in the music business” said a source close to Patti and her pies!
While this union couldn’t seem any more perfect, there’s one hater standing in Patti’s way of happiness. Her son Zuri Edwards, who’s also her manager is the same age as Eric! Could you imagine your mom dating one of your classmates? Ironically, Patti isn’t a stranger to having an age gap in her relationships.
In 2000, Patti divorced her son’s father, Armstead Edwards, her former school teacher, whom she had been married to for over 30 years. Patti was also briefly engaged to former lead singer of The Temptations, Otis Williams.
Apparently, Zuri is leery of Eric because he doesn’t “want to see his mom hurt again.” Well according to all of the photos that Ms. Patti posts with Eric, if loving him is wrong, she doesn’t wanna be right!
The couple most recently spent three days during the Christmas holidays on her yacht in the Bahamas! Congrats Patti! We’re rooting for you and your new relationship! Eric seems to be a nice guy, but he is the same age as you son and that might be a bit uncomfortable. Seems that this might just be a fling and not last very long.
